It was late in 1969 that John Allen became aware of threats to the village in the form of a massive building development on land to the North of Thame Road.  This area, together with several other open spaces in Warborough, had recently been sold by St Johns College, Oxford and the new owner was desirous of building some forty house there.

John called together several neighbours and like-minded residents in the village and they met at his house, ‘Chilterns’ and set in motion the formation of the Society.  The aims and objectives were defined, a committee was formed, a public meeting was held in the Greet Hall to assess the feelings of residents and the Society was born.  It was decided after due consideration to affiliate with the C.P.R.E.

Membership of the Society is open to anyone on the electoral roll within the Parish wishing to support its objectives for a nominal one-time membership fee of £5.00
